- TECH PULLED VEHICLE INTO SHOP AND BEGAN INSPECTING. TECH STARTED BY PULLING CODES FOUND CODES PO117 AND PO125 STORED IN COMPUTER. TECH CONTINUED BY CHECKING THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL AND FOUND LEVEL IS OK BUT OIL IS VERY DARK, TECH FOUND VEHICLE TO BE 317 MILES OVER DUE FOR OIL CHANGE. TECH RECOMMENDS OIL CHANGE. TECH TEST DROVE VEHICLE AND VERIFIED CLATTERING NOISE IN ENGINE, TECH FOUND THE NOISE TO ONLY OCCUR DURING ACCELERATION AND DID NOT OCCUR EVERY TIME. AFTER TEST DRIVE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED OIL CHANGE, TECH DRAINED OIL INTO CLEAN CONTAINER AND FOUND A HEAVY METAL CONTENT IN THE OIL. TECH SUSPECTS THE ENGINE NOISE IS DUE TO INTERNAL COMPONENT FAILURE. TECH CONTINUED BY CHECKING COOLANT LEVEL AND FOUND OIL MIXED INTO THE COOLANT SYSTEM, COOLING SYSTEM MAY HAVE STOP LEAK IN THE SYSTEM AS WELL. TECH RECOMMENDS REPLACING ALL COOLANT SYSTEM COMPONENTS AFTER FINDING CAUSE OF THE INTERMIX. TECH SUSPECTS HEAD GASKET FAILURE AS CAUSE RECOMMENDS BLOCK CHECK , TECH PERFORMED BLOCK CHECK, BLOCK CHECK SEEMED GOOD BUT SYSTEM IS PLUGGED WITH THE OIL/COOLANT MIX TO THE POINT THAT THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR NEVER SEES THE VEHICLE GETTING UP TO TEMPERATURE. TECH COULD PERFORM A CYLINDER LEAK DOWN TEST, BUT TECH RECOMMENDS NEW ENGINE DUE TO INTERNAL NOISE AND OIL/COOLANT INTERMIX IN MOTOR. TECH ALSO RECOMMENDS REPLACING ALL COOLING SYSTEM COMPONENTS INCLUDING THE RADIATOR AND HEATER CORE. CUSTOMER WAS MADE AWARE OF REPAIRS NEEDED CUSTOMER DECLINED REPAIRS AT THIS TIME.
- CHANGE OIL AND FILTER , LUBRICATE AND INSPECT CHASSIS, PERFORM 27 POINT INSPECTION INCLUDING, CHECK BELTS AND HOSES, CHECK FLUID LEVELS AND TOP OFF AS NEEDED, VISUAL BRAKE INSPECTION AND CHECK TIRE PRESSURE.
